Family Fun: Swing! Swing!

Our sweet baby girl has found a new love, the swing at a park in our neighborhood. We had a great time, but when it was time to go home, she was very upset to leave! The last photo is her throwing her fit, while daddy tries to get her out of the swing.

Family Fun: rain rain go away

The weather got to be very stormy yesterday afternoon and has continued on today. We were able to take a quick walk yesterday after work, but E was not too happy. We did get to see a large white crane flying around the greenbelt.
Today the Maduzia's are held up inside until the rain clears up. I did a quick search and found this link with loads of preschool friendly actives for a rainy day.
What is your favorite family activity for rainy days?

Soulful Sunday: He Has Risen!

Happy Easter!

“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’” Luke 24:6-7 (NIV)

In a world saturated with the confetti of bad news, as followers of Jesus Christ, we have the privilege of operating on the basis of the good news of the resurrection. Jesus has risen! He is alive! The tomb is empty!

Our message to the world is a message of hope. Our message to the world is a message filled with resurrection power and a demonstration of God’s unconditional love. Just as we have experienced the reality of the resurrected Christ, we can share that wonderful news with a world living in darkness and doubt.

For the believer, everyday is Easter. We operate our lives in light of the reality of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The grave couldn’t hold Him and death couldn’t defeat Him. Jesus conquered sin, the grave, and death. Jesus brought forth life eternal to those who believe in Him.

Are you living in light of the resurrection? Is your life a perpetual demonstration of resurrection power? Share the good news of the resurrection. Live each moment in the resurrection power God provides. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you. You cannot live the Christian life in your own power. Righteous living requires resurrection power.

Pursuing God,

Have a blessed Easter day!

Mommy Monday: Life after 30

Well, it is official! I just celebrated my 30th birthday this past weekend. The start of a new decade, the end of the 20's, and a look towards the future.
I have to admit, this birthday was particularly difficult, for some reason. Maybe it is the reflection back on where I have been, and what I have accomplished the last ten years, I don't know. But I have embraced this season with an attitude of gratitude, ambition, and innovation.

My birthday wish is to have a clear understanding of each moment. To see the beauty in all seasons of life, good, bad, indifferent. I love the way E's face lights up when she discovers something new. It can be the simplest of things, but she enjoys every minute of it.

In honor of the past decade, below is a poem I wrote way back (well maybe not so way back) at age 20. Enjoy!

"Let us run through the grassy field like children on a summer day, and find shelter beneath the arms of the old oak.
Forget about the world around us, the stress that comes with the day, the clamoring noise that shuts out our thoughts.
No thoughts of deadlines, or money, just us with the calming breeze and a return to our childlike minds.
Forget all but the age of innocence where the world was ours and dreams came true.
Such free spirits, no boundary in view just endless possibilities.
Astronauts, artists, and cowboys filled the stage of our back yard, in hopes that some day those dreams would come true.
Forget me not, the happiness and joy that came from the simplest things in life."
