Soulful Sunday: Children

It has been a long while since my last post! This month has been a busy one. Work has been incredibly hectic, E is most defiantly approaching the so called "terrible two's", and my hubby J and I are beginning a new chapter as Sunday School teachers to two-year-olds at our church.

"for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord." Ephesians 5:9-10

I was reminded of this verse a few days ago and I thought it was prefect for our sweet babies, as they grow and learn.

We have had such an awesome privilege of teaching and guiding our sweet baby girl. I find great joy is helping her "find out what is pleasing to the Lord."

Since day one, we have sung songs to her about Jesus, and she always seems to like hearing them. Recently E's vocabulary has really started to expand and she has started singing right along with us, knowing every word. I love that! Today we were signing "Jesus loves the little children", and she was really belting it out. Then later we hear her singing "The BIBLE" song to herself as she played. What a precious sound.

Gourmet Getaway lunch bag

I have said it before and I will say it again, BUILT products are fantastic! I have had the same lunch tote from BUILT for about four years now and it still looks good as new! Now that E is going to school, and needs a lunch tote, the first place I thought to look was BUILT. The hard part is deciding between the two Gourmet Getaway lunch bags shown above. I am leaning towards the dots, but the vine print is nice too! What do you think?

Mommy Monday: Off to school we go!

In preparation for E going to school in September, we are doing some shopping. Today I went to Jeanne's Monogramming and Gifts and bought a cute napmat for E. It is Chocolate Brown with teal and a small amount of brown and white giraffe print on the edges. They are monogramming her name on the front pocket. I had fun buying her first school item.
By the way the napmat is made by Mint.

Good friends, a parakeet green project and baking

We enjoyed an evening out to White Linen Night in the Heights with a few of our dearest friends.

One of the many banners that marked participating locations throughout the Heights.

The beautiful office of Karen Derr Realty.

Our wonderful friends T & B.

A very sweaty me and hubby J. One of the many hot nights in Houston!

We bought this orange poodle watering can for E at a cute boutique in the Heights.

E's new purple ball courtesy of our friends T&B. Thanks guys!

When we first moved into our new house, I was obsessed with the Florida HGTV Dream Home, especially the guest bedroom with the Parakeet Green wall paint. As a result of years of apartment life, and not being able to paint the walls, we went all out for our first painting project and painted our kitchen bright Parakeet Green! Although a nice color, it was probably not the best choice for our very open kitchen and living room, and we ended up repainting it white. We then chose a silver mist blue, and a chocolate tiki brown for the living and dinning area. It all worked out in the end, but I can't help but miss that bright green. So we painted a patio planter, and a couple of tabletops with the color and we love it.

Last but not least, the yummy Pumpkin muffins! This is the easiest baking I have ever done, which is a good thing because I do not have a strong skill set for baking.
All you have to do is combine a box of yellow cake with with a can of Pumpkin Pie mix, and mix it up! I chose to make it into cupcakes, but a loaf or cake pan would work great as well. I also took it a step further and made a thin icing out of powdered sugar and water. It was great as a dessert and for breakfast with coffee!
